Sustainable Contra Costa is preparing for the 1st Annual Trashy Fashion Show to be held at Concord's Oktoberfest event on Saturday, October 16th at Todos Santos Park in Concord. The purpose of this event includes the following:•In the “Thrifty and Nifty” category, we wish to demonstrate that shopping second hand is fun, saves money, and reduces our impact to the environment and planet at large.•In the “Trashique” category, we will encourage creativity as well as environmental and community stewardship through showcasing clothing made from items that would otherwise be discarded or recycled.•Encourage folks to shop local by highlighting consignment and thrift stores, as well as clothing designers, located in Contra Costa County.•Raise awareness of Sustainable Contra Costa and its mission to connect, educate, and provide resources for businesses, residents, and schools, enabling them to live and operate in a way that sustains the health and well-being of our environment and community.The winners will strut their stuff on the main stage then all participants will parade through the Park. Totally fun, totally flashy, totally trashy!!
