Contra Costa Master Gardeners, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Mt. Diablo School District students, DVC's adaptive horticulture class, volunteers and neighbors are teaming up with the City of Pleasant Hill, the Pleasant Hill Community Foundation, Central San, Contra Costa Water District, Pleasant Hill Garden Study Club and others to create a beautiful, water-conserving and low-maintenance garden at Pleasant Hill Education Center, across from Pleasant Hill Middle School. 

The garden demonstrates healthy garden practices, water conservation and recycling methods, and drought-tolerant and native plantings. The garden is a certified wildlife habitat.

Garden tasks and projects may include: Collect newspaper, cardboard, lawn clippings, coffee grounds, leaves, etc to be composted; sheet mulching; weeding, pruning, planting; design & construct LED lighting for kiosk and perimeter barriers; create bog for wildlife habitat; improve composting system; reconstruct pathways; design and build small greenhouse
