Wouldn't it be nice if more of us could walk to Walnut Creek's BART station? If there were more opportunities to live close to our jobs and avoid a grueling commute home? If more of our streets were safe for pushing a babystroller or riding a bike? And if our nearby natural lands were less threatened by the constant pressure of sprawl?

If that sounds intriguing, come join us to help plan a brighter future for "West Downtown" Walnut Creek!

The City is hosting a visioning workshop on Thursday, August 30, to hear from residents about "west downtown"-- an area stretching from the Walnut Creek BART station to Olympic Blvd, and from Highway 680 to North California Blvd.

What do you like about this part of town? How could it be improved?  Please attend to share your ideas.

If done right, a plan for West Downtown can strengthen our economy, provide more opportunities to live in great, walkable neighborhoods, and take the pressure off our open spaces. Working together, we can help make Walnut Creek an even better place to live, work, and play.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,

Matt Vander Sluis
