On May 22nd, the Institute of Urban Homesteading is bringing their popular Urban Farm Tours to Benicia and Vallejo (and featuring one of Benicia Community Gardens' permaculture food forests!).
The tour of sites in Vallejo & Benicia offers a foray into the suburban wilderness and features sites ranging from a permaculture food forest to a mini livestock operation. You'll see water wise gardening, edible landscaping, bees, rabbits, chickens, goats, pollinator habitat, greywater and rainwater catchment, intergenerational gardening and even some cows! Ask questions, get advice and sample some of the bounty these farms are producing. Your ticket includes a tour of the staging area and 4 other sites, plus morning hospitality.
