Sustainable Rossmoor’s Earth Day committee is busy preparing for the Second Annual Rossmoor Earth Day.  Last year well over 600 people attended and interacted with more than 50 businesses and organizations and we anticipate a higher turnout this year.

The theme for Earth Day 2017 is Earth Day: Our Choices, Our World. We hope to inspire, educate and demonstrate how our everyday choices affect the sustainability of our planet. This year we’ve asked our exhibitors to tailor their demonstrations to focus on ways we, as residents and staff of this community, can become better stewards of the earth.

Categories of exhibitors

We’ve invited a wide range of exhibitors; popular returnees from last year’s event, some bringing new and innovative eco-friendly products, and a few just for the fun of it! After all, this is a celebration of the earth and we want it to be a joyous and uplifting day. We’ve also invited a number of Rossmoor Clubs to share their ideas on how to inspire and lead us in contributing to the sustainability of our community.

In keeping with the theme Our Choices, Our World our exhibitors will showcase ways we can make

• Smarter Energy Choices
• Conserve Water and Choose Drought Tolerant Plants for our Gardens
• Reduce Reuse and Recycle
• Volunteer or Contribute to the Organizations Working for the Greater Good of the Planet
• Understand How Our Choices Affect the Wildlife, Birds and Animals of our Ecosystem
• How the Foods We Eat and the Personal Care Products We Purchase Affect Our Health

There will be a display of all-electric and plug-in hybrid cars, demonstrations on planting a succulent container garden, and what goes in your recycle bin.

We are especially pleased to announce that the Rossmoor Jazz Club Band is sponsoring the Hot 4 Jazz Band, providing a fun, musical lift to our festivities.
