Locally owned, small businesses constitute about one half of the private U.S. economy in terms of output and jobs, but they receive almost no investment from the nation's pension funds or from mutual, hedge, venture, or any other kind of investment funds.
This outstanding collection of experts on finance for local, sustainable businesses will shine a bright light on this problem and how communities and financial institutions are working to remedy the situation. The discussion will include crowdfunding, peer lending, socially responsible investment funds, direct public offerings, and more!

Panelists include: Jenny Kassan (CEO, Cutting Edge Capital), Ari Derfel (Executive Director, Slow Money, and co-Founder of Gather Restaurant, Berkeley), Gary Bell (CEO, Cooperative Federal Credit Union, Berkeley), and Bill Peterson (Chief Credit Officer, New Resource Bank, San Francisco). Moderated by Jody Colley, Publisher of the East Bay Express.
