John Muir inspired people all over the world to “keep close to nature’s heart.” He also let us know that we had to work to keep what we love.

In this spirit, we celebrate John Muir’s April 21st birthday at his former home, along with Earth Day, which brings us closer to knowing our planet and practical ways to help it thrive.

This year marked the 40th Anniversary of Earth Dayand John Muir’s 172nd  birthday… Almost 2,500 visitors attended our 2010 Celebration!

Celebration activities included exhibitors offering activities for children and adults. Guests also enjoyed live entertainment, special guest Brock Dolman, nature walks and tours of the historic home and grounds—including the California Native Plant Garden. Everyone was invited to join “John Muir” for some birthday cake.
