The City of Concord is exploring, with other Contra Costa County cities and the county, the possibility of joining a program that would provide residents and businesses with an alternative to PG&E as the provider of electricity.  Community Choice Energy is a local, not-for-profit governmental program that buys and generates electrical power on behalf of its residents, businesses, and governmental entities, while still relying on the existing electrical utility, PG&E, for transmission, distribution, and billing.

On Thursday, Feb. 23, the City and the County will host an educational workshop in the Concord City Council Chambers at Civic Center, 1950 Parkside Drive from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Attendees will have the opportunity learn how the program works, its potential for local economic and environmental benefits, and the various program options being considered.  The status of Contra Costa County’s efforts to date and a draft technical study will be available.
