Walnut Creek Saves has a new team of high school students that are ready to help you use less and save more! Recently, ten juniors and seniors from Northgate and Las Lomas High Schools completed three days of energy and water efficiency training to become Conservation Coaches. Walnut Creek Saves is proud to not only educate residents on how to save energy, water, and money, but give back to the local youth and prepare them for the workforce.
Conservation Coaches receive hand-on experience assisting with the home energy and water consultations, develop marketing and public speaking skills, and create innovative community outreach strategies. They also are able to work alongside their peers to achieve community-wide energy and water savings for Walnut Creek!
Anna Meehan, a new Conservation Coach, knows her role can help better her community, “I feel like I can make a difference in the lives of Walnut Creek residents and I will come out of this experience a changed person. As we are all aware, our climate is changing. This concern affects each and every one of us, and I want to guarantee I can do my part to help improve the climate, even just in Walnut Creek.”
The free home consultations from Walnut Creek Saves include a complete evaluation of your energy and water usage, personalized reports that show the exact changes you can make to have a more efficient home, and free access to an online energy-saving account to encourage continued savings after the consultation.
