Contra Costa Fruit Rescue, a local non-profit, will harvest fresh backyard fruit for free and donate them to various local charities to help those in need. They are fully insured; the owner gets the tax write off and people in need enjoy your fruit. Volunteers harvest fruit all year long. They are currently doing a lot of citrus trees, followed by stone fruit (plums, apricots, peaches), which leads into our Fall fruits like pear and apple. You can also join them on a harvest. It's a great activity for the whole family.
