Calling all Contra Costa Green Businesses! You may be eligible to receive public recognition for your environmental excellence.


Applications for Acterra's 2012 Business Environmental Awards are now available.

Eligibility
Any private or public business entity, division or facility located in the following counties: Alameda,
Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz County. New this year: Contra Costa County businesses are now eligible to apply.

Non-profit organizations are eligible if environmental work is not their central mission. Detailed eligibility guidelines are provided on Acterra’s website at www.acterra.org/bea.

Categories

Environmental Project
Rewards a specific environmental project that has demonstrated significant leadership in a focused area, such as resource conservation (water, materials and/or energy), educational outreach, pollution prevention or minimizing carbon footprint.

Environmental Innovation
Rewards the successful implementation of a new or significantly improved environmental product, solution or technology, such as a new business service, a new invention or a new way of solving an environmental problem.

Sustainable Built Environment
Rewards a building project that conserves natural resources and promotes the health and well-being of its occupants.

Acterra Award for Sustainability
Acterra’s highest award recognizes businesses whose programs demonstrate leadership in many or all of the other award categories and achieve all three pillars of sustainability (people, planet, profit).

Application deadline
All of the above steps must be completed by Friday, December 9, 2011. To receive an email reminder when applications are due, please email awards@acterra.org.

Acterra’s Business Environmental Awards is dedicated to recognizing outstanding environmental achievements in the Bay Area business community. Since its inception in 1990, the program has awarded over 130 businesses, government, academic and nonprofit organizations for excelling in environmental leadership and making improvements that drastically reduce their environmental impact. Past winners have included: Applied Materials, Resources for Community Development, City of San Jose, Greenerprinter, Metro Lighting, Numi Organic Tea, and UC Santa Cruz.
