By working together, Contra Costa residents have made huge progress through the Cleaner Contra Costa Challenge! Since April 2019, we have saved 543 TONS of carbon dioxide and over one million gallons of water together. Plus, we have saved over $200,000 by taking sustainable actions in the home. Keep reading to see the top participants, and for instructions to participate this summer!
From October 2020 to April 2021, groups and individuals completed sustainable actions, ranging from easy options like Go Paperless to more challenging options like Replace Lawn.

From now until August 31st, join your neighbors and friends for the Summer Cleaner Contra Costa Challenge! Choose from over 80 sustainable actions to take in the home to find the best options for you. Whether you are interested in saving money, water, energy, or finding renter-friendly actions, there is an action for everyone! Plus, when you create an account, you can see local resources and rebates that will make taking action easier. If you'd like to have an impact on climate change, but aren't sure where to start, check out the Challenge for action ideas and to log your household emissions.
Earn exciting prizes through the Challenge--even for completing one action, you can claim a prize! Complete one action and earn a free yard of mulch from EcoMulch. Plus, you can earn prizes based on your city of residence, such as gift cards to local businesses like Rivertown Sweets, the Natural Grocery Company, Moraga Hardware & Lumber, and Sports Basement.
