Sustainable Contra Costa has an immediate opening for a classroom instructor to administer and teach our water education program in 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade classrooms in Contra Costa County between January and June, 2017.

The program is an interactive class on the wonders of water and the importance of pollution prevention. Students learn about California’s natural resources, Bay Area water issues and protecting their local watershed.

The ideal candidate is energetic, has experience working with children, and is an excellent communicator with good writing and administrative skills.

HOURS: Average of 10-15 hours per week. Administrative work will be done from home. Applicants must have their own transportation and access to a phone and computer.

Job description:

  • Create teacher contact list and distribute brochures to all elementary schools in Central Contra Costa Sanitary District service area.
  • Follow up with schools by phone or email, and manage schedule with classroom teachers.
  • Mail or deliver confirmation and pre-visit materials to classroom teachers.
  • Travel to schools and deliver classroom program.
  • Review all pre and post-tests and review all teacher evaluations.
  • Track information and create bi-monthly report on number of students & classrooms served, pre and post-test scores, etc.

 

Compensation: $25 per hour, as an independent contractor
