Look Who's Taking Action: First Generation Farmers!

Did you know roughly half of US Farmland will be changing ownership due to retirement of a whole generation of farmers over the next two decades?

First Generation Farmers (501c3 non-profit) runs a three-year program that offers land access, provides in-depth training in crop production, provides education on marketing and distribution and teaches aspiring farmers the business planning skills necessary for a sustainable small-scale specialty crop business.

Over the past two years, FGF has hosted and educated over 100 farm explorers with aspirations of becoming farmers! They also facilitate tours of their Brentwood farm, and host after-school and summer educational programs for youth.

They also currently take our fresh organic produce to seven farmers markets across the east bay area, but they do not list prices for any of their produce! Their motto is “take what you need, donate what you can”  that way people of all income levels or circumstances are still able to eat these fresh veggies.
