Contra Costa One Bay Area Public Hearing

The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) have released the Draft Plan Bay Area, an integrated, long-range transportation and land-use/housing plan to support a growing economy, provide more housing and transportation choices, and reduce transportation-related pollution in the Bay Area.

With our region’s population projected to grow to some 9 million people by 2040, this Plan seeks to chart a course for accommodating growth while fostering an innovative, prosperous and competitive economy, preserving a healthy and safe environment and allowing all Bay Area residents to share the benefits of vibrant, sustainable communities connected by an efficient and well-maintained transportation network.

What is your vision for our region? What kind of communities will we leave for future generations? You are invited to attend a Public Hearing to offer comments or share your views online via a new interactive web tool called Plan Bay Area Town Hall, at OneBayArea.org.

In our county, the hearing will be held on Monday, April 22 from 6 pm - 9 pm at the Walnut Creek Marriott, 2355 North Main Street, Walnut Creek, CA.

Each Public Hearing will include an Open House where you can view displays and ask questions about the draft Plan. Those interested can attend the Public Hearing to provide oral comments. For those unable to stay, a comment station will be open throughout the evening. Copies of the draft Plan Bay Area can be downloaded at OneBayArea.org.

The Open House will run from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with the Public Hearing in the same location from 7 to 9 p.m. No registration is needed.

Comments on the Draft Plan, along with a companion Environmental Impact Report (EIR) scheduled for release in April will be accepted until 4 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013. The Plan and EIR are expected to be adopted by MTC and ABAG this summer. If you or someone you know needs language translation services or material in an accessible format, please contact MTC at 510.817.5757 or 510.817.5769 for TDD/TTY at least three days before the meeting.
