Our repair workshop on March 22, 2025 in El Cerrito was a huge success, thanks to our incredible community of volunteers, coaches, and attendees!
The Energy Was Real:
Lines formed early, and enthusiasm buzzed through the room with people eager to give their beloved items a second life. Our volunteers helped capture the moment beautifully, taking photos and chatting with guests to preserve the vibrant, hands-on spirit of the day.
Repair by the Numbers:
- 79 items assessed
- 49% fully repaired (39 items)
- 18% partially repaired (14 items)
- 33% not fixed; however, many left with advice or next steps (26 items)
- 56 attendees
- 73% of attendees pre-registered
- 69% of those who registered showed up
- 19 volunteer coaches worked their magic (with 86% attendance of those coaches who registered)
- Interesting repairs included a chainsaw, garden hose, and a nail gun!
Shoutout to Our Coaches & Volunteers
They were the heartbeat of the event! Whether working with electronics, jewelry, sewing machines, or general repairs, they brought skill, patience, and great energy to every station. Special thanks to the Sewing Team for adapting to a slower start and jumping into action when sewing machine issues began rolling in.
The positive feedback from volunteers speaks volumes. We’re lucky to have such a thoughtful, resourceful crew.
Thanks to our wonderful sponsors Recyclemore and the City of El Cerrito.
Looking Ahead
This workshop reminded us how small acts of repair can spark a big conversation around sustainability, reuse, and community care. We’re already looking forward to the next event!
