Let's work together to get our cities and county to join the 90 communities statewide that have taken action to protect our watersheds and wildlife by banning single use plastic bags.  With four Contra Costa cities already having an ordinance, and two more moving in the right direction, there has never been a better opportunity to encourage our elected officials to phase out single use plastic bags.  Please show your support of Walnut Creek City Council's leadership in voting to move forward on this issue by attending this meeting.  If you are a Walnut Creek resident or business, consider calling, writing and/or attending to express your support.  Now that 1/3 of California residents are living somewhere with a bag ban, statewide legislation is clearly inevitable, but the more ordinances adopted at a local level, the more likely it is to pass in 2014.
