Land-Use Planning in a Rapidly Changing World

Planning for vibrant, healthy communities has never been more important—or more challenging—as widespread changes are rapidly reshaping our world.

With the Baby Boomer Generation aging, 25% of Contra Costa County’s adult population will be over 65 years old in two decades’ time. How can we ensure that our growing senior population can live healthy, active, and fulfilling lives?

In the years ahead, we will also face increased economic competition—both globally and locally—and a changing workforce. How can we increase the economic vitality and resiliency of our cities?

The answers to both of these questions depend, to a large extent, on how we plan for our future growth and development.

Join us to hear planning expert Don Weden’s advice for what we can do to help ensure cities like Walnut Creek will thrive—economically, socially, and environmentally—by preparing for and adapting to these coming changes.
