Over the past few years, West Coast residents have experienced the growing threat of climate change in our own lives. Climate change has led to more severe--and frequent--extreme weather events like wildfires. Fires across multiple states have forced thousands of people to evacuate their homes. We, as individuals, can join with others to demand more of our elected representatives to address climate change. On September 22nd, 40 Contra Costa residents called into the Board of Supervisors meeting to support the Climate Emergency Resolution. Joined by over 800 residents who signed the online petition, they motivated the Supervisors to vote unanimously, approving the resolution.

We can also act as individuals to take climate action in our own homes. Did you know that 40% of annual greenhouse gas emissions in the United States come from five basic household activities? Join the Cleaner Contra Costa Challenge to use step-by-step Action guides and local resources to save water and energy in your home! These savings add up, and the Challenge logs carbon dioxide reductions based on your Actions. So far, we've saved 175 tons of carbon dioxide. Will you help us meet our goal to save 500 tons?
Take climate action with your friends, neighbors, or colleagues by joining this free, online platform! The Fall/Winter Challenge is now in progress.
