Learn building & design techniques using energy-efficient local, natural, sustainable, & accessible materials with a focus on urban applications in this Merritt College Natural Building course. History, current examples, and hands-on experience with cob, straw base, light clay-straw, natural paints, plasters, flooring, and alternatives to lumber; guest lecturers, tours of local projects, and a construction project planned at the Berkeley EcoHouse which includes a cob bench seating area, a shade structure, and an altar/art area.
