April 1st through June 4th

Each year in April and May we call upon our community to take action and inspire others to  to grow food, save water and energy, eliminate waste and pollution, and build a more resilient community. What are your actions this year? Here are a few that get us excited:

  • Shop Local and keep money circulating in our communities.
  • Go completely "reusable" for 30 days.
  • Expand your garden to grow food and attract pollinators.
  • Power Down - Hang a clothesline.
  • Grey is the new green! Install a greywater system.
  • Expand your knowledge at a Sustainable Living Skills workshop

Every action counts!

Become a Community Partner:

Inspire others to rise to the Challenge by encouraging supporters of your organization to participate in your project and other partners' events, and cultivate their own ways of taking action.  Community Partner Commitments include:

  • Plan a project or event that aligns with the Challenge themes ( Save Water & Energy, Grow Food, Reduce Waste, and Build Community ). Register your project or event that you are already planning during the month of May by filling out this project form . We will then help to promote your event in the wider community.
  • Promote the Challenge through your newsletters and social media by encouraging people to register their actions or attend a community event.

Become a Challenge Sponsor or Donor: The Community Resilience Challenge is a mostly volunteer effort. Your sponsorship or donation will provide us with much-needed resources to expand our outreach efforts to diverse communities. It is a perfect opportunity for city governments, county agencies and businesses to reach out to individuals and groups about specific ways to reduce our water consumption, including promoting educational events; and passing out educational information about conservation and rebates.

The impact of the Challenge is measured by the number of participants, events registered, the benefit of the actions taken (e.g. gallons of water saved, square feet of lawn mulched, etc.), as well as cumulative impact over the years. The inspiration, hope and relationships that are built are beyond measure.

We hope you will join us!
