This month, these four Contra Costa and Alameda cities have partnered to create East Bay SunShares(EBS) - a program that allows local residents to pool their purchasing power and receive bulk discounts for installing solar systems.
The program is available to residents of the four cities, as well as those who work in one of those cities and own a home in the Bay Area. EBS' community evaluation committee reviewed and selected approved solar installers - to take advantage of the volume discount, residents must sign a contract with an installer by Nov 2015.
Solar is the fastest growing renewable energy sector in the US, and this program should help make solar energy affordable for more residents!.

Information will be provided at two public workshops, both taking place at Walnut Creek City Hall, 1666 N. Main St. The first is August 20th from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and the second is September 19th from 10 a.m. to noon. Homeowner's can RSVP here.
Don't own a home but still want to make sure your energy is coming from a clean source? See if your city has formed a CCE (Community Choice Energy, formerly known as Community Choice Aggregate) program. Under CCE, energy is still delivered to you by PG&E but is sourced by Community Choice from clean energy choices. In Contra Costa County, participating cities include El Cerrito, Richmond, and San Pablo. Others cities that have shown interest are Lafayette and Walnut Creek.
