The Air District is holding four workshops in refinery communities to discuss air monitoring near these large industrial facilities.

The Air District Board directed staff to work with communities near refineries to implement community monitoring.

“The Air District adopted Regulation 12, Rule 15 in 2016 to enable the Air District and the cities in refinery communities to gather more accurate air emissions data from refineries,” said Jack Broadbent, executive officer of the Air District. “We encourage the public, local government and refineries employees to join us at these workshops to ask questions, provide comment or simply hear the discussion around this new initiative.”

Come learn about current and planned air monitoring at and
near refineries, ask questions and provide input. For questions and comments, please contact Katherine Hoag at khoag@baaqmd.gov.

Language interpretation can be provided upon request with
3 business days notice in advance of the event. Contact Azibuike Akaba at aakaba@baaqmd.gov or 415-749-8603 to request interpretation.

The Air District is the regional agency responsible for protecting air quality in the nine-county Bay Area.
