Event Description

Did you know that the tallest black walnut tree in Contra Costa County is found on San Pablo Creek?  Or that Native Americans may have planted Black Walnuts at their village sites? Heath Bartosh, Senior Botanist with Nomad Ecology, LLC, will talk about the history of black walnuts in the Bay Area as well as share some recent genetic discoveries. The setting is apt as several old black walnut trees reside behind the El Sobrante Library!
