Contra Costa Master Gardener Janet Miller, part of the team that runs Our Garden* and frequent lecturer on the bio-intensive method, will expertly guide the audience through the process of creating a healthy vegetable garden.

Bio-intensive gardening can reduce the amount of water, fertilizer and space used for vegetable gardens while increasing the amount that is produced. The presentations will cover a wide range of topics including: soil preparation; starting with seeds and transplants; cover crops; fertilizing; irrigation; mulching; planting times and selecting the right crops. Attendees will leave the lecture with the knowledge necessary to create their own bio-intensive garden.

There will be time for questions and answers after the presentation.

The Moraga Library is located at 1500 St. Mary's Road, about 1/4 mile off Moraga Road. For more information and directions, please call (925) 376-6852 or visit ccclib.org/locations/moraga.html.

Our Garden is an extensive demonstration garden in Walnut Creek developed through a partnership between the Contra Costa Master Gardeners and the Contra Costa Times.
