Guest author Jordan Fisher Smith will discuss his latest book Engineering Eden:The True Story of a Violent Death, a Trial, and the Fight over Controlling Nature. Smith spent 21 years as a park and wilderness ranger in California, Wyoming and Alaska.

Engineering Eden is the true story of the 1972 Yellowstone National Park death of a young man killed and partially eaten by a grizzly bear during the park's hundredth anniversary festivities. The incident led to a civil trial that engaged some of the most famous wildlife biologists of the time in a fierce scientific dispute over how much we should try to control nature, how to repair nature when we damage it, and who is responsible for the unintended consequences of getting it wrong.
